Hokkien Mee in Phuket Town

May 23rd, 2014 — 7:11am

Yes, there’s a military coup in Thailand but you’ve still got to eat. If you are in Phuket as I was last week, head to Ko Yoon  on the Suriyadet Circle in Phuket Town for what may well be one of the best bowls of noodles you have ever eaten.

Hokkien Mee at Ko Yoon noodle shop in Phuket Town, Thailand

Served as a noodle soup or dry with a soup on the side, the complex and flavourful dish of yellow egg noodles is dressed with a dozen ingredients including crab meat, shrimp, crispy pig skin, fried shallots, peanuts, beansprouts, fresh chilli and white pepper. Simply outstanding. Indeed, Phuket Town is a fabulous place to discover Thailand’s Chinese culinary heritage.
